Panna National Park is located at a distance of 44 km from Khajuraho, which is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Madhya Pradesh. While it known as one of the prime tiger spotting destinations in India, there is a lot more to Panna National Park. It falls in the Panna and Chhatarpur districts of Madhya Pradesh and spreads across an area of around 543 sq. km.
Animals found in Panna include the Royal Bengal tiger, leopard, chital, sambhar, chinkara, nilgai, and sloth bear. Panna is also home to around 200 bird species including honey buzzard, king vulture, bar-headed goose, and blossom-headed parakeet. Currently, after several reports of tiger population decline and poaching in the region, there are four tigers and around 10 cubs in the Panna Tiger reserve.
