By Air
The nearest airport is the Cochin International Airport (CIAL) approximately 70 km away. One can fly to most of the metros in India and also to Middle East, Malaysia. Jet Airways, Indian Airlines and Kingfisher operate daily flights to Kochi. Pre-paid taxi service Cochin Airport Taxi Society (CATS) can be hired to reach Kumarakom from the airport. Both A/C and non A/C cabs are available. Taxis charge an additional premium of 15-25% as night charges (7 pm-6 am).
By Train
Kottayam is the nearest railhead, about 15 km away. Kottayam is connected by rail to Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.
By Road
Bengaluru: Drive down Kochi on the NH47 (Salem-Kanyakumari) till Cherthala. Use the state highway 40 to Kottayam and then the Kottayam-Kumarakom route. Kumarakom is well serviced by KSRTC buses from Kottayam, which in turn is connected to Ernakulam, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram. Private deluxe AC buses ply regularly between Kottayam and several south Indian cities, including Chennai, Mangalore, Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram.
