Bushi Dam or Bhushi Dam is one of the most popular getaways near Lonavala. Built on the Indrayani river, Bushi Dam stands behind the hilly terrain between Lonavala and I.N.S Shivaji. The Bushi Dam offers great views of the lush green surrounding region. It is visited by a number of tourists all year round but is a special delight during the monsoon season. (ALSO SEE 6 reasons why Lonavala is still one of the best places to escape to) When the dam overflows, it results in a bit of a waterfall in the nearby rocky terrain which becomes the hub of weekend tourists.
Bushi Dam is under constant surveillance from a control room that has been set up near the dam due to the increasing number of accidents. There are several shops near the dam selling rubber slippers for you to wear for your visit. There are also several stalls that sell food items like corn pakods and tea. The parking lot too is full of hawkers and it may get too crowded at times. Despite the popularity and crowds, Bushi Dam is worth a visit on account of its beautiful surroundings.
