Place Details:
Marine Drive is one of the best boulevards and pavements there are in all of India. Lined by the natural bay formed by the Arabian Sea, the 3.5 km stretch is fondly called the Queen’s Necklace, because the street-lights look like a pearl necklace. It is one of the many places in Mumbai that stays awake through the day and into the night! There are people at Marine Drive at all hours of the day (on most days, the police have to drive people out post 3 am). The drive starts from Nariman Point, one of the southern tips of Mumbai, all the way to the western suburbs of Juhu and Girgaum. I fact the other end of the bay is connected all the other of the city, near Gorai and Manori.
Marine Drive has been featured in several movies to represent Mumbai. It is one of the most visited places in the city! Not only can you enjoy a beautiful walk here, but the sunset is worth watching too. One of the things that Mumbaites love about Marine Drive is the fact that various vendors will keep walking by you, while some have hot tea and coffee, some others have chaat and some offer head and foot massages that we hear are to die for if you’re up for something spontaneous! Also, it is indeed one of the best places you can wish to be at, during monsoons in Mumbai!
