The National Centre for the Performing Arts is located in Nariman Point, the southernmost end of the Marine Drive in Mumbai. It is one of the most popular centres of art in India and works towards encouraging Indian art forms. NCPA is home to five theatres, including the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, Tata Theatre and the Experimental Theatre. There are reading and listening libraries along with a studio for documentation of various forms of performing arts.
Each month NCPS has close to 50 performances ranging for musicals and dance performances to plays, art exhibitions and readings too. When in Mumbai, NCPA is one of the places where you must try watching a a live performance, (along with Prithvi Theatre in Juhu) for the sheer magnificence of the venue. In fact, NCPA has also founded the Symphony Orchestra of India, the country’s first and only professional symphony orchestra which is definitely worth watching.
