The Taraporevala Aquarium is not only Mumbai‘s oldest aquariums, but it India’s first, which was opened to the public in 1951. The aquarium is located a few kilometres south of the Girgaon Chowpatty, near the northern end of the Marine Drive. The aquarium was renovated after several years in 2015 and has been revamped to meet international standards.

There is a new 12 ft long and 360 degree acrylic glass tunnel which was added after the renovation. There are also specially crafted fools, where people can touch the harmless fish. There are close to 400 species of flora and fauna that make this aquarium a place you must visit if you haven’t already. Not only does the Taraporevala Aquarium house a variety of marine fish, but is also home to a large number of fresh-water species. There are various exotic species of sea creatures that have been added to the aquarium recently.
