Lal Tibba is the highest point in Mussoorie and certainly one of the most stunning places you can ever visit. Lal Tibba or the Red Hill, as it literally means in local language, was also referred to as Depot Hill due to the presence of the convalescent depot. The Indian Military services are stationed at Lal Tibba that makes access to the hill restricted. Broadcasting stations or towers of All India Radio and Doordarshan are situated atop Lal Tibba. There is an old Japanese telescope on a 20 m tall tower standing on the edge of the cliff through which you can have breath taking views of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Banderpunch and other Himalayan mountain peaks. It is best advised not to travel to this hill during the rains/monsoons to avoid being infested with leeches.
