Place Details:
Perhaps the most prominent military institution in the country, the National Defence Academy is the Joint Services academy where cadets are trained for all three major services namely the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. It is located in Khadakvasla which is around 15 km from Pune. It is here that brave men receive academic and technological training and qualification that helps them in their future service careers. Their training here is followed by the pre-commissioning training in their respective service academies.
NDA is known to produce the finest military talent who have become excellent mountaineers, sportsmen, writers, artists, and even Olympic champions. The architectural elegance of the institution is admirable and symbolizes the brilliance of the Tri-Services academy. The Sudan Block, for instance, is a stunning piece of architecture and an iconic symbol of the Academy. Its magnificent dome lined with Jodhpur stone is a marvel and appears splendid at night. The 30 ft Ashoka Pillar which is an adaptation of the one at Sarnath and the NDA museum which houses antique memorabilia, archives, and relics are other points of interest for guests in the academy.
