West Bengal is a culturally rich state in the eastern region of India. Along with the neighbouring nation of Bangladesh and parts of the state of Tripura, it forms the ethno-linguistic region of Bengal. West Bengal is famous for its cultural heritage due to various folk traditions, literature stalwarts including Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, as well as many renowned musicians and artists. The football culture in West Bengal is also much stronger than other states of India where cricket is the clear leader in sports.
Places like the beautiful and scenic Darjeeling and the great institution of Shantiniketan make West Bengal a favourite among tourists who want to experience the natural and cultural beauty of West Bengal.
