Located close to the Mahakaleshwar temple, the Bade Ganeshji Ka Mandir (Big Ganesha’s temple) is popular tourist attraction in the holy city of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. It is famous for the huge, artistic Ganesha idol it houses from which it derives its name. It is also a renowned center for teaching astrology and the ancient language of Sanskrit. It follows the ancient Vedic tradition in which houses of prayers were also teaching centers.

In addition to the Ganesha statue, Bade Ganeshji Ka Mandir is also home to a panchmukhi Hanuman idol and the navgrahas (the nine planetary deities). The ganesha idol here is special as it is considered to be a swayambhu, which is the name given to a self-manifested idol.
