Organized by Andhra Pradesh government, Lumbini festival is held to celebrate the city’s Buddhist past. During the three-day festival held in mid-December all the Buddhist temples in the city are well decorated. Buddhist paintings and other age old artefacts are kept on display for visitors to witness the glory of Buddhism. The festival also provides a platform for local painters and sculptors to put their work on display.
Chandanotsavam is a popular festival celebrated in the outskirts of the city at Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narsimha temple. The city also celebrates other festivals such as Diwali, Eid, Christmas, etc.
