The way all the commentators who were in and around Laxman start celebrating, more in disbelief is unmissable
was known for his batting exploits during his playing career. It's been over seven years since the batting legend called time on his career and has since been involved with the game in the capacity of a commentator and a mentor. His playing days might be long behind him but it seems Laxman hasn't lost the touch.
In a video posted on his Twitter account, Laxman has put on display his superb cricketing skills but it's not what you might be expecting. It's not a gentle push through covers for a boundary or a wristy flick towards midwicket region.
It's his, wait for it, fielding.
During a game of cricket with fellow commentators on the sidelines of the second Test between India and South Africa in Pune, Laxman produced a moment of magic, diving low for an excellent catch.
And that too while wearing a suit.
Aakash Chopra, the batsman, flanked by fielders from all around, went for a defensive shot. One hand, one bounce dismissal was on. As the ball bounced after Chopra worked it towards his leg, Laxman, fielding at forward short leg, sprang forward and completed an excellent one-handed catch leaving everyone amused.
Laxman was himself surprised by the effort and seemed mighty impressed while sharing the video writing, "Never knew one of my finest close-in catches would come in a full suit and not whites ????".
The catch also earned Laxman praise from his fans.
The 44-year-old has played 134 Tests and 86 ODIs for India amassing 8781 and 2338 runs respectively. He has 17 Test and six ODI centuries to his name. The Hyderabadi-born is well remembered for his 281 unbeaten against Australia at Eden Gardens in 2001, an innings that helped India beat Australia after being asked to follow-on..
