Microsoft AI chief Mustafa Suleyman on AI costs

Microsoft AI Chief, Mustafa Suleyman, mentioned that the competition for artificial intelligence will require hundreds of billions of dollars in the coming 5 to 10 years. This huge investment will comprise AI research, supporting infrastructure and massive computing power needed to train and run AI models at scale.

Will AI competition be expensive?

According to Mustafa Suleyman, the reasons for the expensive competition in the investment race for artificial intelligence will be training larger models of AI, as it requires enormous resources for efficient computing. In addition, the investment will be required for data centres and specialised hardware and, majorly, for the current research and development.

Future of AI

The comments of Suleyman highlight that the AI race is slowly shifting toward a strategic investment of the long term. The businesses and governments may also have to provide enormous funding to stay in the competition.
