Noida News: Attention Noida commuters. If you are driving your vehicle without high-security registration plates (HSRP), then you will be slapped with a penalty of Rs 5,000. Of the total 10 lakh registered vehicles in Noida, over 8 lakh have high-security registration plates, according to the transport department. This development comes after the last date for installing HSRP plates was over on February 15. The vehicles that don’t have HSRP plates are being slapped with a penalty of Rs 5,000.
As per a report by TOI, out of the total registered vehicles, over 4.7 lakh are new, and are fitted with HSRPs, while 3.3 lakh older vehicles have upgraded to the new plates.
The commuters must take note that the Union Ministry Of Road Transport And Highways has made it compulsory for all vehicles sold in India before April 01, 2019 to have HSRPs. However, the cars registered after this date are already equipped with HSRPs.
For the general information of the commuters, the HSRPs registration number plates are tamper-proof and mandatory for vehicles and these number plates enhance security and help in reducing vehicle thefts.
GB Nagar assistant regional transport officer Siyaram Verma told PTI that there are about two lakh vehicles which do not have HSRPs in Noida and Grater Noida.
He also added that the remaining vehicles include around1.7 lakh end-of-life vehicles which are registered on-paper but are not in use on the roads. He urged the vehicle owners to install HSRPs on their vehicles and if they have ELVs, get them scrapped.
The statement from the RTO comes as the transport department is planning to conduct a drive and take action against vehicles that do not have HSRPs.
The RTO officials have urged the vehicle owners to book the HSRPs on the websites www.bookmyhsrp.com and www.makemyhsrp.com. For this purpose, the vehicle owners need to provide their vehicle details, make a payment, and choose a time slot to either collect the HSRP from the dealer’s office or have it delivered to their addresses.
