Badlapur Rerun: UP Tuition Teacher Accused Of Sexually Abusing 7-Year-Old Girl, Arrested

A tuition teacher was arrested in Rampur district in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly sexually abusing a seven-year-old girl at her house. The incident bears eerie similarities to the Badlapur sexual assault case.

Uttar Pradesh Rape: In an eerie rerun of the now infamous Badlapur sexual assault incident, a similar case has come to the fore from Rampur district in Uttar Pradesh where a tuition teacher was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a seven-year-old girl at her house.

According to the police, the accused, identified as Syed Wasik Ali, allegedly sexually abused the child at her home on Friday when he came to tutor her.

A senior police official said that Ali, a resident of Kunda at Rampur Kotwali, has been arrested, and a an FIR registered against him under the stringent POCSO Act based on a complaint filed by the minor’s family at the Ganj police station.

“The family alleged in the complaint that the accused sexually abused the girl on Friday evening when he came to tutor her. The girl has been medically examined,” said Rampur Superintendent of Police (SP) Vidyasagar Mishra.

Further investigation in the case is underway, the officer said.

Badlapur sexual abuse

The incident comes amidst the backdrop of alleged sexual abuse of two kindergarten girls at a school in Badlapur town in Thane district of Maharashtra which has triggered widespread protests in the NDA-ruled state.

On August 17,  the police arrested an attendant at the school for sexually abusing the two girl students in the school toilet in Badlapur town.

The incident prompted the school management to suspended the principal, a class teacher and a female attendant.

On Tuesday, the Maharashtra government ordered the suspension of three police officials, including a senior police inspector, for alleged dereliction of duty in probing the sexual abuse of the two girls.

The incident triggering rageful protests in the area as locals clashed with the police, prompting authorities to impose curfew-like restrictions and suspend internet services in Badlapur town.

At least 17 city police personnel and around eight railway cops were injured in the incidents of stone-pelting at the railway station and other parts of Badlapur during the protest on Tuesday, police had said.
