New Delhi: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra extended her congratulations to the party’s Amethi candidate, Kishori Lal Sharma, as he appears to be on track to secure victory in the Gandhi family stronghold. Expressing her unwavering belief in Sharma’s success, Priyanka Gandhi highlighted her confidence in his capabilities from the outset. As per the latest Election Commission data at 2:20 pm, Sharma maintained a substantial lead in the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency, surpassing Union minister and BJP leader Smriti Irani by a margin exceeding 90,000 votes.

“Kishori bhaiya, I never had any doubts, I was sure from the beginning that you would win. Hearty congratulations to you and my dear brothers and sisters of Amethi!” Priyanka Gandhi said in a post in Hindi on X.

Priyanka Gandhi dedicated considerable time to campaigning in the family bastions of Rae Bareli and Amethi, actively supporting Sharma and her brother Rahul Gandhi, who contested from Rae Bareli. Her strategic presence and efforts have evidently played a pivotal role in shaping the electoral landscape in these crucial constituencies.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Smriti Irani secured victory in Amethi, a seat historically associated with the Gandhi family, by defeating Rahul Gandhi, who held the position for 15 years, with a margin of 55,120 votes.

Amethi comprises five assembly segments: Tiloi, Salon, Jagdishpur, Gauriganj, and Amethi. Voting for the Amethi seat took place during the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 20.

In Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party (SP) is ahead on 35 seats while the BJP is leading on 34 seats, a significant decline from the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Congress is currently leading on seven seats, as per the latest trends by the Election Commission.
