Another case of sexual assault has come up in Kolkata, India. A 26-year-old woman was molested by a health worker at a government hospital there, according to Wion reports.. On Sunday, September 15th, reports revealed that a 26-year-old woman was molested by a health worker at a government hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal, while she was getting care.
The complaint says that a 26-year-old ward boy at the hospital came into the children’s ward, touched the woman inappropriately, and took off her clothes. It also claims he recorded the incident on his phone.
The India Today report added that the ward boy has been arrested by the police.
This incident in Kolkata happened just days after a nurse in Birbhum district, West Bengal, was molested by a man at a hospital.
The nurse was giving the man a saline drip because he had a high fever when the assault occurred. In her complaint, the nurse said that the patient not only touched her inappropriately but also used offensive language.
According to the latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report, Kolkata had the fewest rape cases among 19 major cities in India last year, with only 11 reported cases in 2021. The city also had no recorded attempts at rape. This is similar to the number of cases reported in 2020 and a decrease from 14 cases in 2019. In contrast, Delhi, the national capital, reported the highest number of rape cases in the country, with 1,226 cases.
Now Similar to the Kolkata case, this situation is also terrible.
Both of these cases in West Bengal happened just weeks after a post-graduate trainee doctor was found brutally raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9.
In the latest update, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of the institute, and Abhijit Mondal, the officer-in-charge of the Tala Police station, on Saturday.
According to ANI, Ghosh was arrested for misleading the investigation and destroying evidence. Mondal was arrested for delaying the FIR.
