On August 6, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar told the Rajya Sabha that on August 5, despite a curfew, protesters gathered in Dhaka. After meeting with security officials, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina decided to resign. She quickly asked for permission to come to India, and Bangladesh authorities also requested flight clearance. She arrived in Delhi the evening before.
