US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said the US wants Bangladeshis to choose their own government. He noted Prime Minister Hasina’s resignation and departure, adding that the US is watching the situation closely. Miller urged all sides to avoid further violence and expressed sadness over recent human rights abuses and casualties. He welcomed the interim government and stressed that any transition should follow Bangladesh’s laws.
