New Delhi is burning, yes Delhi, the capital of India, has experienced an extremely hot week with temperatures reaching nearly 50°C. This heatwave has broken records, and scientists say that climate change is making these severe conditions worse in the world’s most populated country.
On Wednesday, after Delhi recorded its highest temperature ever, which is 52°C but seems like the report was wrong, later on The IMD explained that the reported maximum temperature of over 52°C in Delhi was due to a sensor error or a local factor. It said, The maximum temperature over Delhi NCR varied from 45.2 degrees Celsius to 49.1 degrees Celsius in different parts of city, Mungeshpur reported 52.9 degrees Celsius as an outlier compared to other stations. It could be due to an error in the sensor or a local factor. IMD is examining the data and sensors
But yes we cannot deny the fact that Delhi, where over 30 million people live, recorded its highest ever temperature in 80 years with maximum temperature of over 50 degrees Celsius.
Infcat, the The IMD predicted warm night conditions are very likely to prevail over Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on May 30.
The IMD said that in East India, maximum temperatures are likely to increase by 2-3°C over the next three days and then decrease by 3-4°C. They also mentioned that no significant changes in maximum temperatures are expected in the rest of the country.
Now let me give you a brief of the maximum temperatures across different locations in Delhi as of 8.30 am on Thursday:
Safdarjung – 46.8°C, Palam – 47.0°C, Lodhi Road – 46.2°C, Ridge – 47.3°C and Ayanagar – 46.8°C.
But I have got a good news for you, The weather office said that the severe heatwave in Northwest and Central India is expected to gradually decrease from May 30. Delhi will have cloudy skies, light rain, and gusty winds. The weather office has predicted thunderstorms and dust storms in Delhi, along with rain and strong winds and this will happen over the next six days until June 4.
