On October 5, Israel continued its bombardment in the southern suburbs of Beirut, which is a stronghold of Hezbollah. Huge explosions shook the city as Israel launched more strikes against the group. In recent weeks, Israel has intensified its bombing campaign in Lebanon and sent troops across the border. The goal is to help tens of thousands of citizens safely return to their homes in northern Israel.
Israeli attacks have targeted much of Hezbollah’s senior military leadership, including Secretary General Nasrallah. However, these strikes have also resulted in the deaths of hundreds of ordinary Lebanese, including rescue workers. Lebanon’s health ministry reported that on October 5, Israeli strikes killed at least 25 people and injured 127 others.
