On Monday, an Israeli drone attack killed two people and injured three others in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese rescue workers.
This comes as Lebanon is preparing for possible Israeli retaliation after rockets fired from Lebanon over the weekend killed 12 teenagers and children.
So lets find out about the recent development in the region.

The airstrike happened in southern Lebanon, a place that has been more unstable lately.
This strike follows a meeting where Israeli leaders decided to take tougher actions in response to recent threats.

During the meeting, United Nations has expressed concern over the impact on civilian populations and the potential for increased regional instability.

On Sunday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said he doesn’t want the conflict on Israel’s northern border to get worse. He confirmed that the US supports Israel’s right to protect its people but also hopes the situation doesn’t escalate or spread further. Blinken spoke about this at a news conference in Tokyo.

Late on Sunday, Israel’s top security team gave Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government the power to choose how and when to respond to the rocket attack in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
Meanwhile, Israel and the United States said that Lebanon’s Hezbollah was behind the rocket attack on Saturday. However, Hezbollah, which is supported by Iran, has denied any involvement.

Earlier, the missile hit a sports field in the Golan Heights, making the already tense situation even riskier. This has led to calls from around the world for both sides to stay calm and avoid further escalation.

Well, we don’t know yet what Israel will do next. But Israel’s largest newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth, says officials have mentioned the response will be “limited but important.”
The report mentioned that Israel might respond in different ways. They could choose a smaller, symbolic attack on things like bridges or power plants, or they might target Hezbollah’s weapons storage or high-ranking leaders.

Since October 8, there has been more violence between Israeli troops and Hezbollah. Israel’s military says the weekend attack on Majdal Shams was the deadliest attack on civilians since October 7, raising concerns that the conflict could spread into a larger regional war.
