A tragic event has recently happened in Himachal Pradesh, India where two people are confirmed dead, and more than 50 are missing after a series of severe cloudbursts in the area.
A heavy rainstorm hit Samej Khad in Rampur, Shimla district late last night, causing sudden and serious flooding.
Meanwhile rescue teams from various agencies like National Disaster Response Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, local police, and home guards have begun operations, says Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap.
While Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu had a meeting to check on the situation. He said a cloudburst occurred around 4:40 am, causing severe flooding. Around 50 people are missing, and 2 bodies have already been found ashore. Heavy rain is expected in the next 36 hours.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are at the scene to help. He also mentioned that he has spoken with the Union Home Minister about the situation.
After the cloudburst incidents, Another cloudburst happened in Thaltukhod, Mandi district where one body has been found, and nine people are missing, according to Mandi Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah talked with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to check on the situation after the cloudburst incidents in Himachal Pradesh.
He promised to provide help from the central government and the National Disaster Response Force.
On the other hand Union Health Minister and BJP President JP Nadda has asked all BJP members to help with the rescue and relief efforts for people affected by the cloudburst in his home state.
