As tensions simmer in the Middle East after a A war that started when Israel attacked a building in Iran’s diplomatic area in Damascus and in revenge, Iran had launched dozens of drones toward Israel and again, in return Israel has pledged to “exact a price”.
Israel’s war cabinet has met several times to discuss potential actions following the recent direct attacks on Israel.
Now the question arises How prepared is Iran to defend itself against a potential attack from Israel?
For many years, Iran has emphasized the importance of relying on its own resources for its economy, and a similar trend is evident in its military sector. This approach is partly influenced by Iran’s experience during the eight-year war with Iraq, which started in 1980 when Iraq, led by Saddam Hussein, invaded Iran. During that war, Iraq received military support from various foreign powers, including the United States.
Though, Iran boasts one of the largest and most sophisticated military forces in the region. But Iran’s air superiority is still heavily challenged, with some of its fighter jets and equipment, including US-made F-4 and F-5 fighter jets, dating back to before the country’s 1979 revolution
Iran now mostly operates Russian Sukhoi and MiG fighter jets that date back to the Soviet era. The Iranian air force has been building its own jets too which are based on US designs, but they are not believed to be a match for some of the top fighter jets like the F-35s that Israel employs in large numbers.
Now talking about Missile defence system then, Iran has developed a range of missile defense systems, which include different types of missiles. These systems are designed to create layers of defense, with shorter-range systems positioned behind the longest-range ones.
Multiple medium-range defence systems, including Arman, Tactical Sayyad and Khordad-15 can defend Iranian skies from targets at ranges of up to 200km
Now moving to the comparison then
Israel has carried out various attacks on major Iranian nuclear facilities multiple times. They have also targeted and killed nuclear scientists using bombs and even a satellite-controlled machine gun mounted on a pickup truck.
Many people believe that Israel is responsible for several major cyberattacks, including those on important national networks like ports, airports, and petrol stations. Iran has officially accused Israel of carrying out many of these attacks.
In conclusion, Israel has has more advanced missile and technology that can fail Iran’s defense system.
