The two nations which are playing the revenge game gambling with lives of millions but do you know how their relationship was in the past? Let’s take a closer look at the history of their ties.

Shockingly, Before 1979, Iran and Israel actually had a pretty good relationship. In fact, Iran was one of the first countries in the Middle East to officially recognize Israel when it was established in 1948. They even had diplomatic ties and cooperation in various fields like military and economy.

However, everything changed after the Iranian Revolution in 1979. The new Islamic government in Iran cut off diplomatic relations with Israel and became a vocal critic of the country.

Let’s break it into 4 phases of Iran-Israel relationship

Phase 1 will be between 1947 to 1953
As I told you that before 1979, Iran and Israel actually had good relationship.
During this period, there were various exchanges and collaborations between Iran and Israel in areas such as trade, agriculture, and military cooperation. However, it’s important to note that the extent of this relationship was limited compared to other regional dynamics at the time.

Overall, the relationship between Iran and Israel during this period can be characterized as relatively positive, with both countries showing willingness to engage with each other on various levels.

From 1953 to 1979, during the rule of the Pahlavi dynasty in Iran, the friendship deepened.

Iran recognized Israel as a sovereign state in 1950, making it the second Muslim-majority country to do so after Turkey.

Iran’s support for Israel during conflicts with Arab nations did indicate a certain level of alignment in their geopolitical interests during that time. This alignment was partly due to both countries having common concerns about regional stability and security.

A significant example of their cooperation was the construction of the Trans-Israel oil pipeline. The pipeline was built to transport Iranian oil from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean, bypassing the Suez Canal. It not only strengthened economic ties between Iran and Israel but also served strategic interests for both nations.

In the third phase, Between 1979 and 1990, the relationship between Iran and Israel took a dark turn. It all started with the Iranian Revolution in 1979, which brought about an Islamic government in Iran. This changed everything between them.

After the revolution, Iran cut off diplomatic relations with Israel. The new Iranian government became openly hostile towards Israel. They saw Israel as an enemy because of its support for the Shah of Iran, who was overthrown during the revolution, and its close ties with the United States.

This hostility marked a significant shift in their relationship, setting the stage for years of tension between Iran and Israel.

Since 1991, Iran and Israel have stayed in a state of tension and conflict. Iran continued to support groups like Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Palestine, which have fought against Israel. This support fueled more tension in the region. Since last month, Tensions between Israel and Iran are at an all-time high, with Israel vowing revenge after Iran’s recent attack. Over 300 drones and missiles were fired at Israel overnight, which Iran said was in response to an 1 April strike on its consulate in Syria.

Overall, Before 1979, Iran and Israel were friends, but things changed after Iran’s religious revolution. This revolution led to a new government in Iran that didn’t get along with Israel. They stopped being friends and became enemies instead.
