A loud, sudden scream is followed by a powerful explosion and thick black smoke. Large holes the size of refrigerators show where Hezbollah’s anti-tank missiles have hit along Israel’s northern border.

Around midnight on Friday, about 20 rockets were fired from Lebanon at northern Israel, causing damage but no injuries. Several rockets hit the communities of Manara and Dovev. In response, the Israel Defense Forces said they shelled the places where the rockets were launched

Additionally, the military said that air defenses intercepted a “suspicious aerial target” over the northern community of Dishon, marking the second such interception that day. The rocket attack happened after Israeli fighter jets struck several buildings used by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Additionally, a drone targeted a group of Hezbollah operatives in Hanine. The IDF published footage of the latter strike.

It was the latest round in a simmering border conflict that threatens to boil over into a full-scale war.

The barrage on the north marked the second time that the northern border community of Dovev was hit on Friday.

Earlier, damage was caused to a home when it was hit by an anti-tank guided missiles launched by Hezbollah from Lebanon

Dovev has been largely evacuated amid daily attacks by Hezbollah.

Earlier in the day Israeli fighter jets also struck a building in southern Lebanon’s Maroun al-Ras where a group of Hezbollah operatives were spotted by soldiers of the 869th Combat Intelligence Collection Unit.

Hezbollah, a militant group from Lebanon, has been trading fire almost every day with the Israeli army since the war in Gaza began on October 7, after a big attack by Hamas. The Iran-backed militants have fired thousands of rockets, anti-tank missiles, and drones at northern Israel.

These exchanges have killed at least 11 civilians and 14 soldiers in Israel. In total At least 429 people have been killed in Lebanon, mostly militants, but this number also includes at least 82 civilians. The attacks have severely damaged Israeli towns and villages near the border, leading to their evacuation for more than six months. These attacks also warn of the much greater destruction that would happen in a full-scale war.
