In a surprising turn of events, Israel’s military intelligence chief has resigned following the failure to prevent the October 7th attack.

Let me take you few days back right on Oct 2023, Hamas and several other Palestinian militant groups launch an attack into Israel by launching a major attack, which results in the deaths of around 1,200, mostly civilians, and taking more than 240 hostages, the majority of which are civilians. And this attack initiated the Israel–Hamas war.

Major General Aharon Haliva, the head of Israel’s military intelligence has now quit on Monday, April 2024 over the failure to prevent. Major became the first senior Israeli figure to step down following the war. He said shortly after the attack in October last year that he shouldered the blame for not preventing the assault.

In a statement, the Israeli military said that the military chief of staff accepted Haliva’s request to resign and thanked him for his service. Infact a news agency said that Haliva’s resignation could set the stage for more of the country’s top security brass to accept blame for not preventing the attack and step down.
