A deeply tragic and developing story from Kolkata that has captured widespread attention..

In Kolkata, a 31-year-old woman trainee doctor was found dead at a state-run hospital on Friday.
The injuries on her body suggest she was sexually assaulted before she was killed where some report shows she had multiple injuries, there was blood around her, and she was not fully dressed.
And now a case of rape and murder has been registered by the police.

On Saturday, the police arrested a man named Sanjoy Roy in connection with the death of a junior doctor at Kolkata’s R G Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Later, Police arrested Sanjoy Roy after checking CCTV footage from the hospital.
Meanwhile the doctor’s father told reporters on Friday that he had spoken to his daughter the night before at 11 pm, and she seemed fine. He was very shocked to learn about her death and said she was found half-naked. He suspects that she was raped and murdered.

Her mother also said that when her daughter was found, she was only partly dressed, had injuries on her body, and her glasses were broken. She believes her daughter was murdered.

According to hospital sources, the doctor was on duty until 2 am on Friday.
The hospital has created two teams to investigate: one team will review what happened inside the hospital, and the other will handle the postmortem.

A leader from the TMC party said that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee talked to the doctor’s family and promised to support them while she called the incident “unfortunate and despicable” and agreed that her colleagues’ anger was understandable.
Junior doctors at several hospitals in West Bengal protested today, asking for severe punishment for anyone involved in the case.

Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal and a BJP leader, has called for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to look into the death of the trainee doctor.

Suvendu Adhikari posted on X on Friday that the second-year student found dead in the seminar hall at RG Kar Medical College had injury marks on her body. He mentioned that there are unconfirmed signs of strangulation and traces of bodily fluid, suggesting she might have been murdered and possibly raped. He believes the case should be handed over to the CBI for investigation.

He also asked students, especially medical students, to protest strongly against the State Government’s “lack of action.”
Well, The investigation is still in progress, and officials have promised to thoroughly search for the truth and seek justice for the deceased.
