In Dhaka, students at the well-known Dhaka University in Bangladesh held a protest to support the ongoing demonstrations about the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at R G Kar Medical College in Kolkata, India.
The protest, organized under the banner “Awaaz Tolo Nari” , on Friday, took place at the Raju Sculpture in Dhaka University, Dhaka Tribune newspaper reported.
In Kolkata, a recent rape incident has sparked a lot of anger and protests. People are speaking out about safety, justice, and the bigger problems with how sexual violence is handled.
On Friday, a protest called “Awaaz Tolo Nari” was held at the Raju Sculpture on Dhaka University’s campus. It supported demonstrations about the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata.
At the protest, Rahnuma Ahmed Niret criticized the medical college for its lack of cooperation in Moumita’s rape case and called for strong legal action and a quick verdict.
Meanwhile, Anya Fahmin an Anthropology student, spoke at the protest where she supporting fair justice for the RG Kar Hospital case and calling for a public trial in Sohagi Jahan Tonu’s case,
highlighting the need for transparency and safer conditions for women.
And said that the RG Kar incident has revealed serious problems in the country and insisted that those responsible need to be punished severely.
On August 9, a 31-year-old trainee doctor was raped and murdered at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. This tragic event has sparked protests across India, with people demanding justice for the victim.
