A tragic incident struck on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway when a bus crashed into a tractor.
The collision was devastating and resulting in the loss of five lives, and over 30 others were injured and this incident has raised serious concerns about highway safety.
According to police, the victims were Warkaris, who are devotees of Lord Vitthal.
They were traveling from their hometown Dombivli near Mumbai to Pandharpur for the Ashadhi Ekadashi celebrations.
Warkaris are known for their religious pilgrimages to sacred places, especially to Pandharpur, which is a significant destination for followers of Lord Vitthal in Maharashtra.
After hitting the tractor, the bus crashed into a barrier on the expressway and fell into a deep gorge that was 20 feet deep.
DCP Vivek Pansare told media reporters that a group of 42 passengers from Dombivli were traveling to Pandharpur when their bus collided with a tractor near Adne village.
He said the injured were quickly taken to a nearby hospital while he also mentioned that three of them are in serious condition.
