Mumbai was shaken by tragedy when the reckless actions of a young man led to the untimely death of an innocent woman.
In Mumbai’s Worli this morning, a speeding BMW hit a scooter, resulting in the death of a woman.
According to police sources, the car was driven by Mihir Shah, the 24-year-old son of a senior leader of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and allegedly caused the fatal accident while driving intoxicated.
Shah, who is currently evading authorities, was found to be drunk at the time of the accident, as per police investigations.
The victim who lost her life and identified as Kaveri Nakva, who lived in Worli’s Koliwada area was fatally injured when the speeding BMW crashed into her vehicle.
Well, this incident happened a few months after another case in Pune where two 24-year-old engineers died in a drink-driving accident. In that case, a teenager driving a Porsche after drinking was speeding when the accident occurred.
Meanwhile, the police found evidence suggesting attempts to hide the car’s connection to a Shiv Sena leader. They discovered a Shiv Sena sticker on the car’s windshield that had been scratched off. Additionally, one of the car’s number plates was removed after the accident.
However, police used CCTV footage to identify the vehicle despite these efforts to conceal it.
Maharashtra Chief Minister and Sena Leader Eknath Shinde called the incident “unfortunate” and promised action. He said, “The law will take its own course, and everyone is equal before the law. I have spoken to the police, and strict action will be taken.”
The incident angered many people in Mumbai, who are demanding justice and tougher punishments for drunk driving.
