One of the most horrific accident of this year where a 17-year-old boy, driving a Porsche at a speed of 200 kmph, caused the deaths of two software engineers. But this case is not as simple as it seems, everyday a new detail about the case unfolds and in the latest update, On Saturday, the Pune city police arrested the grandfather of a minor boy. The grandfather, a prominent realtor in Pune, was arrested on charges of kidnapping and wrongful confinement after the driver employed to drive the Porsche filed a complaint.
The driver initially said that he was driving the Porsche car but now according to his FIR, the minor’s grandfather allegedly forced him to sit in a BMW car. He took the driver to their bungalow, where he and the minor boy’s father took the driver’s mobile phone and confined him. They then allegedly asked the driver to take the blame for the Porsche car accident
The minor’s father, who is currently in judicial custody, has also been charged in this case. The FIR lodged on Saturday is the third one related to the accident that happened early on May 19. Based on information from the minor boy, the police filed a second FIR on May 20 against his father and six others, including the owner and managers of two restaurants in Pune. These restaurants allegedly served liquor to the minor boy and his friends before the accident.
The minor was initially granted bail on the same day by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB). However, at the police’s request, the board later sent the minor to an observation home until June 5.
The police also arrested the minor’s father for giving him a car without number plates and money, knowing he drinks and is a minor without a driving license. They charged them under Sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act and sections of the Motor Vehicles Act (MVA). They also charged the minor’s father with cheating the government under Section 420 of the IPC for not paying the registration fee of Rs 1,759 for the Porsche car at the Pune RTO. Additionally, the police invoked Section 5/180 of the MVA and Section 65(e) of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. A special court has placed the minor’s father and five restaurant employees in judicial custody until June 7.
