As the war in Ukraine continues, Western countries are providing key military support. This includes advanced weapons, air defense systems, and ammunition, helping Ukraine defend itself and push back against Russian attacks.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a CNN interview that Ukrainian troops are losing many soldiers because the weapons from Western countries are arriving too slowly. As a result, Ukraine’s army is not getting the equipment they need in time.

For months, Russia has been advancing in Pokrovsk, getting as close as 10 kilometers (six miles) from the city’s eastern edge.
Well, Pokrovsk is important because it sits at the crossroads of rail and road routes that supply Ukrainian troops and towns along the eastern frontline. This has made it a key target for Russia’s army.

Meanwhile, President Zelenskyy described the situation in eastern Ukraine as “very tough,” saying that half of the Ukrainian brigades there don’t have enough equipment. He explained that many soldiers are lost because they don’t have armored vehicles, artillery, or enough ammunition. Zelenskyy made these comments in an interview with CNN that was conducted on Friday.

Russian shelling killed one person in the eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk on Sunday, local authorities said. Russian troops are still moving closer to this important city, which is a key supply hub for Ukraine.

The latest attacks happened after Ukraine asked Western countries on Saturday to let them use long-range missiles provided by the West.
Ukraine wants to strike targets deep inside Russia because their forces are having a hard time stopping Russian advances in the east.

On Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy used social media to ask Western countries to change their policy on long-range weapons.
He pointed out that Russia had launched about 30 missiles, over 800 bombs, and nearly 300 drones at Ukraine this week.

So, where does this leave Ukraine? Zelenskyy is warning that time is crucial, and any more delays could be very costly for Ukraine.
