Hello and welcome to India.com’s internationa Affair and today we are going to talk about The attack on Moscow City’s concert hall which is one of the most deadliest attack claimed by the Islamic State on European soil, with 137 people confirmed to have been killed.
On Friday evening, attackers carrying assault rifles entered the concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow, shooting for nearly an hour, infact afte rthis they attackers set the venue on fire.
Infact the death toll is slightly higher than the devastating Paris attacks of 2015, which came at the height of the IS’s power.
A Turkish security official alleged that the gunmen accused of killing the masses travelled to Turkey briefly in the same week “to renew their Russian residence permits.
However, the report mentioned that the Tajikistan men’s radicalization did not occur in Tajikistan.
According to officials, there were no existing arrest warrants against the attackers, allowing them to travel between Turkey and Russia freely. Furthermore, it was revealed that the they had been residing in Moscow for an extended period.
Meanwhile, Russia president Vladimir Putin said the Moscow terror attack was carried out by “radical Islamists’. However, he refrained from naming ISIS, the terror group that has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Infact, he suggested that Ukraine could have played a role in the attack to “show their own population that not all is lost for the Kyiv regime”.
This matter took a new turn when The US said Putin knows ISIS carried out the attack.
White House press secretary stated that This was a terrorist attack that was conducted by ISIS. Russian President Putin understands that and he knows that very well. And look, there is absolutely no evidence that the government of Ukraine had anything to do with this attack. We’ve been very clear about that. I do want to step back for a second and offer our deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones, and those who are injured because of this horrific attack.
As of the Monday after the attack, emergency workers said they were continuing to search for anyone who may be left wounded or dead inside the severely damaged concert hall. The death toll rose multiple times over the weekend as more bodies were found.
