Recently for the first time in the history US President Joe Biden wrote a letter to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Biden had not talked to former Prime Minister Imran Khan and Sharif during his first term, disapproving of Pakistan’s support to the Taliban against the US forces in Afghanistan.

Seems like, the US are extending there hands towards Pakistan but what does this friendship means for India?

If the US decides to support Pakistan’s economy through but economic assitance, or encourage the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to extend a new standby assistance programme to Pakistan, India could hardly object. As a stable Pakistan is also in India’s interest, How? Let me explain it to you.

Weak Pakistan can create new problems for India through greater cross-border flow of terror elements, drugs, threats to the security of its nuclear weapons and deeper inroads by China.

Though, If the US decides to resume military assistance to Pakistan in any meaningful manner, such as the supply of a new generation of fighter aircraft, missiles, mountain guns etc then India would certainly object as if ever there is a war between the two countries it is be a big disadvantage for India.

Currently, The US is not happy with India’s ongoing ties with Russia including import of crude oil and purchase of defence equipment, infact even Indian PM wishes Russian president Putin after he won the elections. but we need to note here that India’s ties with the US are far deeper.

Since the US is a source of much-needed investments, trade, technologies, and critical military assistance, India would like to maintain close ties with the US in the long term.
India’s relationship with US and Russia are extremely friends on the other hand the improved relationship of the US and Pakistan might beneficial for India as well.
