Popular Bengali influencers Sofik SK and Dustu Sonali have gained notoriety after their 19-minute viral video.

MMS video: Bengali influencer Sofik SK and his girlfriend Dustu Sonali, who allegedly featured in the infamous “19-minute viral video”, have shot to new levels of fame (or notoriety) since their leaked private video went viral on social media platforms, raising curiosity among netizens about these small-time content creators from West Bengal.

Who is Dustu Sonali?

A native of Kolkata in West Bengal, Dustu Sonali is a popular social media influencer with nearly 400k followers on her Instagram page. Sonali, who lists herself as an “artist” in her Instagram bio, is often seen in videos with her boyfriend Sofik SK, and the young couple often feature in videos posted on Sofik’s YouTube channel and Instagram page.

Sonali’s boyfriend, Sofik SK, is also a popular content creator, who runs Palli Gram TV, a popular Bengali YouTube channel, known for its comic skits, including the well-liked ‘Sofik Ki Chalaki’ series.

Both Dustu Sonali and Sofik SK are highly-popular in West Bengal and Assam, with a strong fanbase in rural and semi-urban areas of the region.

Were Sofik SK and Dustu Sonali in 19-minute viral video?

While there are conflicting reports about the exact identity of the young couple seen in the viral MMS clip, reports have purportedly identified them as Bengali YouTuber Sofik SK and his girlfriend Sonali. However, India.com could not independently verify these claims.

Following the controversy, the couple took to their individual social media handles to issue separate apologies, and blamed a mutual close friend for leaking the private video, claiming that he had been blackmailing them.

In his video, Sofik SK said the viral MMS was “over a year old”, which was leaked by “trusted” friend, whom the young couple had trusted with personal information, including their phone passwords. Sofik said the friend “stole” the video from their phone, and tried to blackmail them, before leaking it online when the influencer couple decided to cut ties with him.

Is the 19-minute viral video an AI deepfake?

Meanwhile, reports have surfaced claiming that the viral MMS video is allegedly an AI-generated deepfake. However, there is overwhelming evidence that the 19-minute viral video is not an AI-generated fake, and the young couple seen in the viral clip are indeed Sofik SK and Dustu Sonali.
