November 26 has been etched as one of the most forgettable days in the history of Mumbai following the terror attacks in 2008. The attacks, carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba, took place at Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus, Oberoi Trident, Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, Leopold Cafe, Cama Hospital, Nariman House and Metro Cinemas among other places. The poem written by Prasoon Joshi and recited by Amitabh Bachchan is in memory of all those who lost their lives in the attacks. As per official records, 164 people lost their lives and 308 others were wounded in the terror attacks. It was one of the most organized and long attacks in the country with terrorists holding the Indian defence system at ransom for over 48 hours and across three days from November 26-28. The first attack took place at 8 PM on November 26. Armed forces from different parts of the country were called in to arrest/killing the 10 terrorists without harming the innocent.
