We’re always looking at ways to blend innovation with taste in our kitchens. We love experimenting with cuisines and we Indians are quite the experts at mixing and matching cuisines. But while we’ve adapted to a lot of firangi foods and quite love our mushrooms, olives, jalapenos, etc, we often tend to forget one delicious and extremely nutritious ingredient – avocado! Indians are still not very knowledgeable about avocados and do not really understand how to use them in Indian cuisine. But avocados are quite versatile and can easily be paired with multiple cuisines. 1. Avocado and Kiwi Lassi Also Read - This Fruit Can Suppress Your Hunger

Lassi is a yogurt smoothie consumed by almost the entire north India. It is a refreshing drink and the addition of Avocados makes this humble classic a health drink. Sugar replaced by honey works for and excellent taste and kiwi add just the right zing. Avocado (ripe or over ripe) – 1no
Kiwi fruit – 1 no
Yogurt – 1 ½ cup
Honey – 1 ½ tbsp
Ice cubes – a few


•  Run a sharp knife from the top of the avocado in a circular motion. Slightly twist the avocado and separate the halves. Remove the seed and discard it. Now using a spoon scoop out the flesh of the avocado and place in a bowl.
•  Peel the kiwi and roughly chop and add to the avocado. Pour honey and add yogurt. Add a few ice cubes and using a hand blender blend till everything becomes smooth. Serve cold immediately.

2. Green Hummus

Now, you’bve heard of hummus and even tried eating it but ever tried your hand at Avocado hummus? This dish is perfect for everyone from the taste-lovers to the health-freaks as it is a blessing for your taste-buds as well as for your health.

Chickpeas boiled — 2 cups
Tahina — 1 tbsp
Garlic pod — 2 nos
Lemon — 2 nos
Salt — to taste
Olive oil — ¼ cup
Avocado — ½ no
Mint leaves — a few
Spring onions — handful
Mustard leaves (blanched) — handful
Raddish leaves — handful
Basil — 1 sprig
Garlic bread — 1 loaf


•  Simply mix all the ingredients (except bread) and blend it into a smooth paste.
•  Check for seasoning and serve with crisp garlic bread.

3. Avocado and Chicken Kebabs

This home made chicken tikki gets a kiwi twist with the addition of Avocados. The subtle flavor of the kebab with the buttery notes of the avocado makes for a hassle free healthy snack.

Avocado (ripe and firm) – 1no
Chicken mince (leg) – 250 gms
Salt – to taste
Shahi jeera – ½ tsp
Ginger – a small piece
Garlic cloves – 4-5 nos
Green chilly (small) – 1 no
Processed cheese cubes – 2 no
Green coriander – 1 tbsp
Pepper powder – to taste
Olive oil – for shallow frying


•  Run a sharp knife from the top of the avocado in a circular motion. Slightly twist the avocado and separate the halves. Remove the seed and discard it. Peel off the hard skin and cut the avocado into small dices.
•  Separately add all the ingredients except the avocados in a blender and blend to make a rough paste.
•  Remove and mix in the avocado dices.
•  Apply little oil on your palms and make into flat patties.
•  Heat a griddle/tawa and cook the patties on both sides till brown. Remove and serve hot.
