Normally summers last for around 3 months in India starting from April to June and are literally testing times for one. With the increasing global temperatures and unbearable heat, one needs to take extreme good care of one self during this time. Drinking lots of fluids is important to keep one hydrated and healthy during summers but there are foods which can cause one dehydration, making one feel stuffed and unhealthy and must be sorely avoided this summer. Now Indian food is synonymous with spice and too much spice is bad for one’s health especially during summers as it can cause indigestion. They can also heat up the body eating which can boost metabolism so avoid over spicy meals.

2) Tea and Coffee
Avoid hot beverages like Tea and Coffee as they increase the heat in the body wherein in summers it is important to keep your body cool. They can also cause dehydration making your face appear flushed.

It dehydrated more than caffeine and needs to be strike off your summer food list immediately. Go for some interesting cooling cocktails instead which are enjoyable and contain minimal alcohol instead.

4) Fried Foods
Now fried and junk foods will make you feel all bulked up and show on your face in the form of pimples and acnes. The body takes longer to digest in summers and fried foods are a big no. So avoid burgers with patties, fries and pizzas and instead go for fresh fruits and juices.

5) Non vegetarian food
Non vegetarian food contains heat and take long to digest which makes you feel unhealthy during summers. This can make a person sweat more and cause digestive problems. Avoid gravy laden, thick creamed and oil based chicken, meat and fish dishes. Go vegetarian and healthy.

Another must avoid this season are nuts. Nuts take longer to digest and generate heat in the body. They are essentially for winters. Avoid nuts and instead opt for fresh fruits and cream.

7) Salad Dressing and Sauces
Meals become interesting with salad dressings and sauces but they also cause health related issues during summers. They increase calorie intake and leave you bloated and sluggish. Some sauces have Monosodium Glutamate and salt content. Go for a fresh mint chutney at the most but avoid cheese dips for sure.
