Travelling with furry buddies require a lot of considerations. One has to plan the itinerary in advance. As long as pets are concerned train is the best and cheapest option to travel but it is not hassle-free. Flying with the pets can be another best and safe option for the pet owners. But a freelance journalist named Divya Dugar from Delhi is travelling across the country with her two pet dogs though India is not the most pet-friendly country in the world. Her two dogs also love to travel as much as she does. After checking her lovely Instagram feed you would also love to travel with your pets soon if you have one. Divya has shared many wonderful stories of exploring India on her official Instagram account.
According to NDTV report, Divya says that travelling with her furry friends has completely changed her perspective on travelling and helped her to rediscover India. She shares videos and pictures from their adventures with her followers on her Instagram.
She also told NDTV that she had three dogs but now she has only two dogs. Divya had rescued all the three from Nizamuddin West when she was living there. Divya said, “Tigress and Pondi were my office dogs. When the office closed, they were back on the road and just kept waiting for the door to open. They were young pups back then for eight and four months. I couldn’t see that, so I decided to take them in and make them my family.” She also added, “Marcopolo was the last entry, he is Pondi’s pup and the most spoiled of the lot.”
But last year when her dog Pondi passed away, she and her husband decided to travel across the country and spend more time on the road along with her two pet dogs Tigress and Marcopolo. As a family, they wanted to spread awareness about adopting and rescuing Indian street dogs.
Divya said that “Traveling with our pets is a completely new take on how we move around, our perspective has completely changed, it is no more about following guidebook or top recommendations but it is charting our own way through the country. It is like having fresh eyes to see the world all over again from rediscovering our love for train travel, going to the beach for the first time, finding roadside stalls for date nights and watching sunsets all huddled together.”
When asked about the problem she faces while travelling with her dogs, she said, “Yes, there are a lot of people who mock us or laugh at us. It is hard sometimes to hire a car or rent a car, as people do not want dog hair on their car seat, but mostly I have to say, a lot of people went out of their way to help us and make friends with us.”
But Indian railways came to her rescue. In the beginning, they were little worried about travelling on the train, but their first journey from Delhi to Madgaon of 32 hours has changed their perspective. Both her pet dogs love travelling via train. Divya and her husband are guiding all the pet parents on how to find the best hotel and how to travel with the pets.
