Actor Rahul Roy who gained immense fame in his debut film Aashiqui joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today in the presence of Union Minister Vijay Goel. Rahul Roy who has been missing from the Bollywood circuit for quite some time now resurfaced again today and joined the ruling party at its headquarters today. Rahul Roy, along with Anu Agarwal gained instant popularity and fame when he starred in the musical Aashiqui. The movie’s songs are still a rage today and have spawned a franchise as well. Rahul Roy said that it was a significant day for him and thanked the party for including him in its ranks. However, the Twitterati could not take things lying down and had a field day coming up with jokes and witty captions for Rahul Roy joining politics.

Rahul Roy told media persons, “The way Narendra Modi Ji and Amit Shah Ji have been taking the country forward and the way the perspective of the world towards India has changed in the past two years is remarkable. I am elated to have taken this decision.” The actor said in a press meet that he wants to contribute towards the development of the country and is ready to take up any task that the party deems fit to entrust him with.
