After Akshay Kumar, Industrialist and Tata Group Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata announced to donate Rs 500 crore to fight the ongoing pandemic COVID-19. Taking to Twitter, he pledged the amount for the welfare of the people who are suffering due to the lockdown and COVID-19. Tata Trusts has pledged to protect and empower all affected communities. It has announced Personal Protective Equipment for the medical personnel on the front lines, respiratory systems for treating increasing cases, testing kits to increase per capita testing, setting up modular treatment facilities for infected patients and knowledge management and training of health workers and the general public. Sharing the statement, he wrote, “The COVID 19 crisis is one of the toughest challenges we will face as a race. The Tata Trusts and the Tata group companies have in the past risen to the needs of the nation. As soon as the news broke, netizens applauded Ratan Tata and Akshay Kumar for donating in the relief fund and soon their names started trending on Twitter. One user wrote, “This man never disappoints! Best person to idolize!Loudly crying face Legend with an heart of gold #RatanTata.”

Earlier, Akshay Kumar donated Rs 25 crore, the largest amount by any Indian celebrity so far to help fight coronavirus and help people in need. Taking to Twitter, he wrote, “This is that time when all that matters is the lives of our people. And we need to do anything and everything it takes. I pledge to contribute Rs 25 crores from my savings to @narendramodi ji’s PM-CARES Fund. Let’s save lives, Jaan hai toh jahaan hai.” (sic)

Popular Baahubali actor Prabhas donated Rs 4 crore Even Telugu actors Pawan Kalyan, Ram Charan, Chiranjeevi and Mahesh Babu also donated for the cause. Tollywood stsr Allu Arjun announced the donation of Rs 1.25 crore for the welfare of the people in states of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Telngana.
