It was in May 2019 that AIB (All India Bakchod) announced that their popular YouTube channel was being non-functional for ‘foreseeable future.’ The decision was taken after a former employee of the company – Utsav Chakraborty was accused of sexual harassment under the #MeToo movement and the CEO of the company – Tanmay Bhat was found guilty of not taking any required action against him. AIB first removed Bhat from his post and then announced the shutdown. Seven months after the decision was made, AIB’s Ashish Shakya has come out to speak about the issue and how it affected all the leading names associated with it.

In his latest interview with Mid-Day, Shakya, who is now gearing up for his new special on Amazon Prime Video titled Life is Good, talked about the phase and how everyone from AIB is trying to come over it. Shakya mentioned that even though their YouTube channel is not functioning, the content is being made in the name of the brand. “There is work happening under the brand name (of AIB), but our YouTube channel is no longer functioning,” he said.

Shakya said it was hard for everyone to move past the incident but they were all committed to making entertaining content and that’s what they are doing currently in their individual spaces. The comedian said ‘a sense of loss’ was felt and after a lot of fights, they decided to ‘let it go.’ Adding that they all have ‘learned from the episode’, Shakya said they are not in a position to complain today but AIB’s ‘core’ is alive. “Right now, we are not in a position to complain as individuals or as AIB because everyone is doing well and working on creating new content. At our core, that is what we are – writers, performers, entertainers and creators. As long as we get to do that, we are good,” he said.
