Ajay Kshirsagar is the man behind the insanely popular ‘Sonu Tuza Mazyavar Bharosa Nahi Kay’ also called the Sonu song. The creation of one of the viral sensations of the year is an interesting tale. Ajay came up with the idea of composing the song after his brother forwarded a short clip to him on WhatsApp. In an interview to TV9, Kshirsagar said that the idea came to him after his brother Avinash sent him a clip on Whatsapp — a type of a ‘picnic song’ which he decided to work upon. Kshirsagar who has been writing songs since he was 15 said his guru only allowed him to sing pop and once he felt ready, he knew the ‘Sonu Song’ is the one that would do wonders. He wrote the catchy lyrics ‘Sonu Tuza Mazyavar Bharosa Nahi Kay’ which translates to ‘Sonu, don’t you trust me?’ with the music given by Ajay Kshirsagar and Chadan Kamble. Interestingly, the female singer who is the first to ask her lover, ‘Sonu, don’t you trust me?’ is none other than Ajay’s wife, Bhagyashali Kshirsagar. The first question that pops into every listener’s mind is – Who is Sonu? Kshirsagar revealed the original Sonu in interviews to Marathi TV channels, saying it’s his wife, Bhagyashali who calls him Sonu lovingly.
The young musician when uploaded the final song video on YouTube channel, Sumeet Music received an overwhelming response. It fetched more than six million views and not just that, the Sonu song inspired a number of versions – in Gujarati, Marwadi, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Sindhi and also there is the India’s first band run by transgender people. He was quoted by TV9 saying, “I am overwhelmed by the response of youngsters to the song. Young people have enjoyed the song and made it big.” According to Mumbai Live, Kshirsagar says keeps getting requests to sing the Sonu song.
One of the parody songs which struck a chord with the mass is RJ Malishka’s #PotholeMix rattled the state. Red FM 93.5 and RJ Malishka’s song slammed BMC over potholes in Mumbai and the sufferings faced by Mumbaikars during the monsoons. The spin-off quickly caught the attention of everyone, leading to a tussle between the RJ and BMC. Malishka faced numerous fines which opened the debate on freedom of speech and how artists face offended politicians ire.
