Texas woman Ayanna Williams has entered the Guinness World Records for having the longest fingernails in the world. Williams from Houston in the United States has been growing her nails for more than 20 years and has a combined total length of 576.4 cm (18 ft 10.9 in). She takes well care of her nails and even gives manicures to clients where she works as a nail technician. It takes Ayanna around 20 hours and two bottles of nail polish – to paint her record breaking nails. Everyday, she uses anti-bacterial soap and a nail brush to keep her nails clean. Her longest individual nail is longer than the shortest man ever, Chandra Bahadur Dangi, at 54.6 cm (1 ft 9.5 in; see p.70).

As per reports, the nails on her left hand are longer than her right, measuring a total of 326.5 cm (10 ft 8.5 in) compared with 249.8 cm (8 ft 2.3 in). She avoids washing dishes and sleeps with her nails resting on a pillow to avoid any damage to it. She gained the title for Longest fingernails on a pair of hands (female) after earlier record holder Chris “The Dutchess” Walton cut her nails. She said doing daily chores is difficult at times but she manages with the help of her family. She said that pulling up her trousers is the most difficult task. Williams told Guinness World Records that she takes a lot of care of the nails. She was quoted as saying, “They are a part of me so they’re here to stay” Her longest individual nail is on her left thumb which measures 68 cm (2 ft 2.7 in).  Talking about the title she received, she said, “I cannot wait to see my picture in the Guinness World Records 2018 book.”
