An artist’s work is his property and any commercial use of it without prior permission or licensing is an infringement. We often hear of lawsuits where artists sue each other for the alleged lifting of their stories or tunes. However, many a times it goes unnoticed and undocumented because nobody cares much about it. Imagine if our Bollywood producer, directors and music directors start getting legal notice about copyright infringement, then, half the movies that gets made in our country will not be made. Our directors are liberally ‘inspired’ by Hollywood and other South Indian movies and regularly doles out heavily inspired ‘original’ cinema. However, the mega star Amitabh Bachchan sent a regal notice to AAP leader and poet Kumar Vishwas for using a poem by his late father, the poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan in a video and Kumar Vishwas offered him to pay Rs.32.

Amitabh Bachchan issued a legal notice to Kumar Vishawas when the latter used a poem of Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s in a video and asked him to give an account of the revenue that was generated from it and demanded the video to be deleted from the YouTube platform. Amitabh Bachchan said that the video in which Kumar Vishwas is singing a poem of Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s is a copyright infringement and should be removed from circulation within 24 hours. Psy’s Gangnam Style Is No Longer The Most Watched YouTube Video, Charlie Puth’s See You Again Featuring Wiz Khalifa From Furious 7 Beats It Hands Down
