US President Barack Obama will be making way for President-elect Donald Trump to take oath in his inauguration tomorrow (January 20). Before that, Obama has again impressed his fans with his parting speech. A video of Barack Obama’s final news conference from the White House shows has gone viral, and it shows how he has expressed a wish to see the United States of America being led by a woman in the future. Barack Obama, the eighth mixed race President of the United States, also wished that the country would see either a Jewish, Latino or even a Hindu President some day! We wonder why the USA has never had a Jewish President, though, with so much of clout they have in the country. Coming back to Barack Obama’s final speech, he gave a thought-provoking final speech from the White House. We gather it must have been rather emotional for the outgoing President after eight years in office. “I believe in this country. I believe in the American people. I believe that people are more good than bad,” he said, adding, “I believe tragic things happen. I think there’s evil in the world, but I think at the end of the day, if we work hard and if we’re true to those things in us that feel true and feel right, that the world gets a little better each time.” In his Q&A with the media, Barack Obama opened up a bit more. He said, “I think we’re going to see people of merit rise up from every race, faith, corner of this country. Because that’s America’s strength. If, in fact, we continue to keep opportunity open to everybody, then yeah, we’re going to have a woman president. We’re going to have a Latino president. And we’ll have a Jewish president, a Hindu president. I suspect we’ll have a whole bunch of mixed up presidents at some point that nobody really knows what to call them. And that’s fine.” Also Read - Obama, Bush, Clinton: These Former US Presidents Want to Get COVID Vaccine Publicly | Here’s Why
In his speech, Barack Obama was positive and said, “In my core, I believe America will be okay.” This may well be the last speech of a US President from the White House Press Corps office from the West Wing, as it may be moved to another location by the new US President Donald Trump. With so many Indians in politics in the US and Canada, we think it is a possibility, yes, that the most powerful country in the world will have an Indian-origin President, whether Hindu or not. But that may happen 50 years from now and by that time India itself will be the most powerful nation, we feel. Coming back to reality, while bidding adieu, the US President spoke of his term in office. Barack Obama also made his final call to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his last day as US President.
Obama began his speech by talking about former President George H W Bush and his wife Barbara Bush, who were both hospitalised at the Houston Methodist Hospital since Saturday. While former President Bush is suffering from an acute respiratory problem stemming from pneumonia, former First Lady Barbara Bush was experiencing fatigue and coughing, said their spokesperson. Barack Obama in his final news conference as President of the United States talked about them and said, “We have been in touch with the Bush family today after hearing about President George H W Bush and Barbara Bush being admitted to the hospital. They are as fine a couple as we know. And so we want to send our prayers and our love to them.”
