In one such instance which turned bizarre, a young woman in Kolkata licked the uniform of a police man on Wednesday after he stopped her cab during the ongoing lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

A video of the incident which has gone viral shows the policeman stopping the woman’s vehicle in the Salt Lake area, wanting to know its destination. Meanwhile, a man accompanying the woman alighted from the vehicle and tried to calm her down.

The woman claimed that she was out only to buy medicines because she felt sick, but she failed to show a prescription, the police said.

“I am unwell. I live alone. If I don’t go to the medicine shop, who will get the medicines for me?”, she shouted in Hindi.

The woman, was later arrested for not abiding by the restriction and assaulting a public servant on duty. Her male companion and the driver were also arrested. An officer of the Bidhannagar commissionerate said the incident had left cops ‘shocked’.

“It is a disturbing incident. There could be disagreement, but no one has the right to do this to those who are risking their lives to keep others safe,” the officer told The Telegraph.
