The minions are back. Yes, you heard us right; those tiny, banana-obsessed, overall-wearing yellow creatures with weird language skills are back with the first trailer of their new movie Despicable Me 3. Joining them is Steve Carell’s former supervillain Gru and his wife Lucy (Kristen Wiig). The duo is seen enjoying a nice drive coupled with their usual idiosyncrasies. The movie will also feature their three adoptive daughters Margo, Edith and Agnes. The Gru household along with their lovable Minions will face a new nemesis and will try their best to fight him out now that they’ve turned good instead of Gru’s previous evil mindedness.

The trailer introduces the film’s new nefarious but equally comical villain: the ‘80s-obsessed Balthazar Bratt. He is voiced by South Park co-creator Trey Parker. Balthazar is a former child star who has turned to a life of crime and employs Rubik’s cubes, mix tapes and bubblegums to bring his plans to fruition. He is seen grooving to Michael Jackson’s music and doing his moonwalking dance steps. As one government official puts it: “That’s not a monster… That’s a man wearing shoulder pads!”

The original Despicable Me co-director Pierre Coffin and Minions director Kyle Balda are on board for the film along with Eric Guillon who is co-directing. Despicable Me 3 is all set to hit theaters on June 30, 2017. The trailer does not feature the Minions in a very detailed role but we can always expect the yellow creatures to wreak havoc and bring a smile on our faces.
