Popular Malayalam filmmaker Diphan passed away today morning in Kochi. He was undergoing treatment for liver problems at a private hospital in Kochi where he breathed his last. As per reports, Diphan was suffering from liver cirrhosis and kidney failure. The filmmaker was rushed to the hospital 15 days ago after his health condition deteriorated. His cremation will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday. Diphan has directed seven Malayalam movies including Puthiyamukham, SIM, Dolphin Bar, D Company, Hero and Leader. His last move, Sathya starring Jayaram and Roma is yet to be released. Prithviraj, who has worked Diphan in various movies took to Facebook to pay condolences to the director. He wrote on the social networking site saying, “Will miss you Diphan chetan! Thank you for giving me one of the most important films in my career. Rest in peace now..rest in peace!” Malayalam superstar Mammootty also posted condolences to the actor. Popular Malayalam celebrities including Aashiq Abu, Indrajith Sukumaran, Unni Mukundan, Jayaram, Roopesh Peethambaran, Vivek Ranjit and Meera Nandan also tweeted condolences to the director. The 45-year-old entered the film industry as an assistant of Malayalam director Shaji Kailas. He has assisted Kailas in several movies including Aaram Thamburan, FIR, Narasimham, Valyettan, etc. However, he rose to fame with his own movie PuthiyaMukham starring Prithviraj.
